About Us

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History is dedicated to furthering West Virginia's cultural, historical, and artistic production, as well as providing access to the State's cultural artifacts. The Division's main offices are in the Cultural Center at the West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston, home to the State Museum and Theater, the State Archives and Collections, and a library for genealogical research. At the Cultural Center, the Division programs a full year of events and exhibits. The Division also administers four historical sites, with their own program schedules, in other areas of the state.

The Division also includes the West Virginia Commission on the Arts and the State Historic Preservation Office.

The Cultural Center is located on the Capitol Complex grounds in Charleston, West Virginia. Exit 99 off Interstate 64/77 at Greenbrier Street.
